My last session of 2008 took place yesterday in awesome downtown Boise. I met up with The S Family for a mini session. It was soooo cold & soooo foggy out, but they were troopers and braved it all! How adorable is this family! Thanks guys & Sharon, hope you enjoy your peek!

Whew! Can you say a lot of boudoir lately! No complaints here! The next set of ladies are so beautiful. I met up with S, L & C today at Hotel 43. S had a boudoir session for her boyfriend's Christmas gift. L & C did one for their husband's Christmas gift. So shhhhh! Oh and they also happen to be Mother & Daughters. They sure do have some gorgeous genes in this family!

Lucid's Holiday Schedule

Tis the season! Just a few key dates, I wanted to make everyone aware of.

The last day to book a photo session is November 23rd (only 2 dates left in November so get them quick).

Lucid will be on vacation November 26th thru November 30th.

Last day for photo/product orders is December 1st, this includes Holiday card orders.

Lucid will be closed for the holiday season on December 15th and resume business on January 2nd.

I finally got around to taking some photos of Natalie's big girl room. Still a couple little things to do like changing the knobs on the nightstand to brushed nickel and getting a bed skirt. I adore the paint color, it is Olympic (from Lowe's) By The Sea if anyone wants to know.

I've been dying to blog about this session. I did this session the very end of August but had to hold off on blogging it because it was a surprise gift to the groom on his wedding day. My friend Brittany who you've obviously seen & heard a lot of lately (she's one of my best clients for sure)surprised Brent with a book of images right before the ceremony. She's stunning and the camera couldn't love her more. Here are some of the tame photos to share with you! ;)

Brittany's Wedding: Boise, Idaho

First congrats to Brittany & Brent on their new life together! They tied the knot last night at Crane Creek Country Club in Boise. It was a blast! Although it did decide to rain for the first time here in quite a while, but they had a back up plan and rain on your wedding day is good luck so it all turned out wonderfully. I did only get photos of the cake & cupcake set up then I put my camera away and vowed to have a good time instead of trying to get more photos.

And thanks again to Jeannine for helping out with the cupcakes, it was SUCH a big help!

Here's a super cool part of the wedding. A friend of Britt's father rented a photo booth to come in as a gift to them. It was sooo much fun, I highly recommend it for any event. The photos print off two strips per sheet so you would cut off one strip and put it on this sheet and write a message to Britt & Brent and then they'll have a book of all of them to cherish. Here's a few I had. lol!

I was talked into doing the cake & cupcakes for a friends wedding today. My other friend Jeannine graciously offered to help me out as there was a lot of work to do! We did a 2 tier cake (photo coming soon, the fresh flowers need to be added at the wedding venue first) and 250+ cupcakes! It was an all day thing and I will be finishing up the last 3 dozen right before we leave for the wedding. I hope she likes them! :)

Last Sunday we took Natalie to the fair. She had a blast, us adults were a bit miserable due to hot HOT it was that day. I believe it was over 100 and it felt like 125 out at the fair! Here's some pics!

First thing we did was eat! Second thing was visiting the petting zoo area.

In honor of my first car payment just being made in a LONG time (I was lucky enough to be able to pay off my last car very early into owning it) I'm dedicating a post to my shiny new car.

Oh how I love you Kia Optima EX V6, thank you for being pretty, being loaded with features which makes you a luxurious ride, for giving me 35mpg and getting all this without leaving me broke! The last month & a half with you has been wonderful! :)

Chocolate Peanut Butter Mini Pies!

I've been in a baking mood lately. Tonight I made these mini pies with stuff I had on hand in the house. My midwestern roots will show through here with a love for all things involving pudding.

I used my grandma's pie crust recipe (top secret...sorry) and created mini pies using a jumbo cupcake pan. You need to bake and cool the pie crusts first.

Then add a layer of peanut butter crumble (1/2 cup peanut butter cut into 3/4 cup confection sugar) to each cooled mini pie.

YUM!

My dad finally got remarried today! I say finally because Sandy has actually been in our lives for a long time already. I can't remember off the top of my head but something like 18 years they have been dating and a lot of that time living together. I love Sandy to death, to me she has been a loving stepmom for as long as I can remember and not "just" my dad's girlfriend. I'm so, so, so excited for them. They let me know on Wednesday that they were finally doing it today (Saturday), just a simple, sweet, short ceremony with them and two of Sandy's boys that live back there in MI. I really wish we could have joined them on this special day but Idaho is a long way from Michigan! Congrats Dad & Sandy, you know I love you so much and am so stinkin happy for you!

Oregon Coast!

We just got back from our vacation to Newport. So beautiful. I'm totally in love with Western Oregon and ready to pack it up and move there!

We decided to take the scenic route through the Cascade Mountains both times because it was so beautiful.

A camping area in the Cascades that we stopped at to stretch our legs. It really was that green!

10 hours later, we settled into our Nye Beach condo, ate some dinner and then headed down to the beach (a lot of stairs down). It was the first time Natalie and I have been on the West Coast...so pretty and damn windy!

In the Deep Sea Passage, Natalie was not thrilled about this part, it freaked her out a little.

Then this fish swam right up to the glass and starred straight at them until JR finally walked away from it. lol. It's all, "How's it feel to be in a fish bowl!"

After the aquarium we hit the Historic Bay Harbor and ate lunch at Moe's annex just in time to see a Halibut boat come in early with it's max limit. Very cool to see the process of unloading, washing and filleting right there on the deck.

We also bought a kite there. The one thing JR wanted to buy was Natalie's first kite so they could fly it together on the beach just like he did as a kid.

Natalie's first kite and of course she picked it out...she's such a girl! :)

A beautiful ending to a fun day!

Friday we relaxed in the morning then headed off to Florence to see the Sea Lion caves.

We also had family photos done while we were there and I can't wait to see those...thanks Heather! It was a quick, but fun trip as we headed back to Idaho on Saturday. 10 hours later we arrived back home and are now recovering and having a nice father's day. Hope everyone else had a great father's day too!

We collected a bunch of pine cones last time we were up in the hills visiting my parents so we could make bird feeders with Natalie. Super easy, fun project for a toddler to help with. She loved helping us hang them.

Natalie's way of saying Happy Birthday is to say "Happy to You" and a happy to you she sure did have! She totally knew the party was all for her.

I'm behind in posts and pictures so hang on...there's going to be a ton!

Starting with Mother's Day. JR, Natalie & I met up with my parents (Nana & Poppa) for breakfast which was super yummy and super packed! Then we stopped off at the park to let Natalie swing and slide on the playground. She had a blast convincing poppa to follow her through the slides.

Then that afternoon we met up with JR's mom, Larry & Uncle Matt to have a picnic, then we hit the nature walk that is in the park. Natalie thought that was pretty cool, we even saw some baby ducks.

Next...Wednesday was Natalie's 2nd b-day. My baby is officially 2. We took the day off from work and daycare. I made blueberry Mickey Mouse pancakes and then we went to the zoo in the afternoon. She loved the zoo!

I remember being young and having to get up to turn the dial to change the channel on the NORMAL television set. That is so not the case anymore. We loaded some movies on to JRs iPod and let Natalie check it out. Spoiled girl got to watch Alice in Wonderland in style!

Just kidding JR! :) JR's birthday is Tuesday and he's turning 28. We had a little birthday party to celebrate today with his parents and my parents and a couple of friends and of course Natalie. JR's one requirement to celebrate his birthday is that if there is going to be cake it has to be German Chocolate. I've been on a cupcake thing lately so German Chocolate cupcakes it was. So good.

The cupcakes were filled with coconut pecan frosting.

Then topped with whipped chocolate ganache and a dollop of coconut pecan frosting.

I recently worked on a project for Serve Idaho, which is the Governor's Commission on Service and Volunteerism. They put on an annual awards event to honor all of the outstanding volunteers in the state of Idaho. They really wanted a design that was more hollywood, red carpetish. It's been a little bit between posts. Our house was hit with that nasty flu bug going around that is holding right on for a week or longer. Ours was longer. I can't even begin to tell you how happy we are to be feeling 110% better. Not to mention Snow White has fried my brain I've had to watch that damn movie so many times. How can you say no to a terribly sick little girl begging to watch it, plus it's the only movie she'll sit still through from beginning to end so it's a chance to catch a few winks of sleep. :) But as I said, I'm back!

What in the world are they doing with kids food these days. These "Sour Fun Bugs" came in a kids dinner. These wonderful delights are shaped like little bugs.

If bugs weren't gross enough to think about eating, when you bite into these little Fun Bugs your greeted with a gush of liquid that can only represent bug guts. Nasty!

Of course, it's Natalie. I just remembered I still have to download photos from coloring eggs so I'll get to that eventually. For now here are some from Easter day at my parents and from today! I'm in a black and white mood by the way!

JR ran inside today after picking Natalie up from daycare and pushed 3 ice cream cones at me. Shortly after a little brown hair tyrant came bouncing through the door yelling "ICE CREAM" "ICE CREAM" "ICE CREAM" like if she didn't get it NOW, she would most surely die right there. We will probably put the ice cream man's kids through college this summer. Here is Natalie's first ice cream cone...who would have thought an ice cream cone would produce such emotion!

Saturday I had a family shoot with The Newmans. Man was it a chilly morning! We found this great little abandoned home & farm of some sort. This place had lots of character and a lot of junk too! There was even a Barbie bribe that took place! Carley, hope you got your pretty barbie! :) Enjoy guys

My oldest nephew turns 9 years old today. I can't believe how fast time flys. He was the first time I became an aunt and what a sweet baby he was.

We had such nice weather this weekend. Come on Spring! I haven't posted any photos in a while so I thought it was time to get my act together and post some!

Swinging at Grandpa Montoya's a few weekends ago

This is what JR did all Saturday. Now that we need more workspace JR decided to tear out the single person desk he built into our office only about 6 months ago. He decided to build this huge workspace for two people that will last a long time in storage space. It's soooooo awesome and sooooo pretty! I haven't taken the finished product photos yet but I will soon. We need to finish putting the knobs on and I may paint the room before I show the afters.

Nana and Papa also came over Saturday to get a little Natalie time and drop off a design project Harry needed help with. Of course Natalie talked them into going outside.

And since it was another nice day we played outside again!

And as soon as blogger stops acting up, my new self portrait :)

We booked our vacation for this year. We are driving over to the Oregon Coast and staying in a condo on Nye beach in Newport. I'm so excited. I have never been to the Oregon Coast and I adore the water so this is going to be a blast. Just ask JR how much I love the ocean...we spent A LOT of time in the water on our honeymoon in Mexico. Of course there won't be much time actually spent in the Pacific (burrrrr) but just being on the beach is good enough for me. So far we know we'll be visiting the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the Sea Lion Caves in Florence, and of course flying a kite and hitting up Mo's for their clam chowder, which according to JR is an absolute must!

Another thing we are doing which I'm super excited about is family photos! I knew I didn't want to try to mess with taking our own photos and I have always wanted beach photos done so this was a perfect chance to have that happen. I went in search of a photographer that had a similar style to mine and found a perfect one. Heather of Heather Leggett Photography is traveling all the way from Redmond, Oregon to shoot our family session! She is also taking limited session that weekend in the Newport area, so if you will be in Oregon June 13-15 get a hold of her and get some photos done!

Saturday I had a family photo shoot at The Brown's home. You may remember mom from her maternity photo shoot I did last summer. Little Maddox is 4.5 months old now and what a cutie! I am an advocate for heart health in women and a survivor of two open heart surgeries (if you didn't already know) so this is something that is dearly important to me.

Tomorrow, February 1st, is the National Go Red For Women Wear Red Day! The whole month of February is Heart Awareness Month, but specifically tomorrow as the kickoff to it!

Heart disease IS the #1 killer among women (any age it can happen). It's extremely important to raise awareness about this so please spread it around, post it in your blog, invite everyone in your family to show their support for your health and wear red!

Know your numbers, take care of your health, join the Go Red For Women movement. It could save your life!

My stepbrother and sister in law just had their second baby (the sex was unknown so even that much cooler). I'm an aunt again to a little baby girl, Madisen Lynneil! She arrived this morning at 8:24 am 7lbs 15oz 19.5 inches! I'm sure big brother Logen will be very excited about his new baby sister! Congrats Steve & Shay! I wish I could be there to meet her.

Attorney Announcement

Every year I do a new partner announcement for the firm I work for. 2007s was done on beautiful Neenah linen textured cardstock(love the stuff). It featured an announcement sheet, biography sheet for each attorney and then finished off with an attorney phone directory.

We finally got a good amount of snow (for the valley anyway) on Friday. So I bundled the tyrant up and we went outside to play in it. She'd fall down and not be able to get up there was so much padding surrounding her! lol.

We even took her new sled outside so I could pull her around on it. Her papa made her this...isn't it beautiful!! Shady's cold nose kisses cracked her up!

She had so much fun being pulled on it...Thank you Papa!!

After we played forever it was time for a nap and this is how she woke up. Of course being to super nice mom that I am, I had to get my camera first before I fixed it. lol.

And her headband arrived. She actually wore it for quite a while!

Natalie's Grandpa M (JR's dad) got her this awesome rocking horse. This think nays and gallops, moves it's tail, head and mouth. At first Natalie was not so sure about it but would still give it hugs and kisses...such a sweet girl. By Thursday she was like a little pro rocking horse rider. She loves this horse and can now get on and off it without any help. She'll get on it and sit there forever! Some photos I snapped of her on Thursday. She is also clutching her prize monkey hair clips given to her by Victoria(daycare provider)!!

Pretending like she is going to actually listen to my request to remove that binky from her mouth.

Telling me to "Sit Down"! I was standing on the couch to get the above her shots. lol.

I finally got some time to upload photos this morning. Christmas morning was nice with just JR, Natalie and I. We took our time and got lots of video. We had to wake Natalie up around ten after seven cause JR couldn't stand it anymore. lol. We woke her up with "Merry Christmases" and night vision on the video camera. We brought her downstairs to her play room where her kitchen was set up and ready to go. She ran right over to it and started touching everything. She hasn't stopped playing with it since! It was so worth it!

She loved her vacuum that her Aunt Kris, Uncle Randy, Mason & Gavin got her!

Then later in the afternoon everyone came over for Christmas dinner at our house. Here's Natalie with her Uncles at the kiddie table!

Not only was it Christmas but it was also James & Gregory's birthday. Happy 3rd b-day boys!

What a beautiful family! I told you all that I was excited about this photo shoot and it did not dissapoint! Beside it being sooooo very cold out that day we met up at the Boise Train Depot to take as many photos as possible in as little of time as possible. This family couldn't have been better subjects to photograph! This was by far my most favorite photo shoot yet. The kids had me cracking up and just seeing the love they have for each other was really something wonderful. In fact, while I sat here editing some of the photos they had me laughing all over again. The family has to sacrifice their time with daddy so that he can do his job of serving our country and for that I am very appreciative of their sacrifice and everything that Joel does for America. Thank you.

Now on with the photos! I had such a hard time choosing which photos to edit first!

I figure since everyone should have gotten their Christmas cards from us by now, I'd go ahead and post it here.

It's 5x7 printed on pearl finished paper (so pretty)!

The back was plain with a message from us. I also made some special for the Grandparents for Christmas, but I don't want to give it away by posting it here, so that'll have to wait!

We have our Mad Dog awards tomorrow at work (kind of like an attorney roasting by the staff). We get to eat awesome food, drink and make fun of attorneys all on company time then we shut the office down early. I am off until the 26th, then I'm off again on the 28th for 5 days!

My last photo shoot for 2007 is Saturday! I can't wait to shoot this family...they are such a beautiful family! 2008 starts a whole new year of photography & design goals so make sure you stick around! Happy Holidays if I don't get a chance to say so before Christmas everyone!

Melissa and Dave met me in downtown Boise EARLY Saturday morning for some urban style maternity photos. Melissa makes a beautiful pregnant woman and both her and Dave were huge sports dealing with the VERY cold temps. It had snowed the night before and actually snowed through half of the photo session and did I mention how cold it was! Here you go Melissa and Dave, hope you enjoy your sneak peak.

A couple months ago JR and I went to PF Changs for dinner and I got one of their most popular martinis. This sweet heavenly concotion was called the Lucky Cat Martini. So last night JR and I decided we wanted some drinks and wanted something different then what we usually have so I was lucky (ha ha) enough to find the recipe for it online.

Look how pretty they turn out and they are super yummy!

Shake:

2 oz Vanilla Vodka
1 oz Pineapple juice

Pour into glass and then sink 0.5 oz of Black Raspberry liqueur in. Sink really means to just pour it in, the liqueur will sink on it's own. Enjoy!

I can not even express how challenging it is to get a good photo of a toddler. It's kinda like trying to squeeze into your pre pregnancy jeans 2 weeks after having your baby. JR and I spent some time last weekend and some time today setting up a photo shoot for Natalie's Christmas card photo. Don't be fooled by the photos, that kid is not cooperation's #1 fan. Here are some photos we didn't use for the card.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and days off from work. Mine was good and bad.

The good: Visited with family and friends, ate yummy food, still eating leftover pumpkin pie (my favorite...I'm a pumpkin anything freak), got a nice TDay sale on a 50" Samsung HDTV (you should have seen the drool dripping from JR's head), did some black friday shopping without too much hassle, and got to "sleep in" 3 of the 4 days (read: sleep in until 7:00 a.m...woo hoo).

The bad: All of us have a cold, mine being the worst (of course). I've been blessed with many things in life, having a high tolerance to sickness is not one of them. If it's "going around" I WILL get it.

I have only got 3 people left to buy for and all the other people's gifts are already wrapped and under our Christmas tree. You know it! I put the Christmas decor up the day after Thanksgiving. Except JR can't find what he did with our garland and outside lights box so we are sans house lights until it is located. I love Christmas time and having Natalie be into it this year really makes me excited for it. She LOVES the decorations on the tree, she spends a lot of time touching each one she can reach saying "ooohhh".

Tomorrow is one of the biggest games for BSU. Not in terms of challenges, but in terms of rivalries! We play the University of Idaho tomorrow, which involves a lot of emotion. This is our biggest rivalry and has been for many, many, many years. In fact, even at work today we are all showing our love for the rivalry by sporting BSU or UofI colors. GO BOISE STATE!
